Find the other stops HERE ;)

Hiya folks! Today, we are the first stop on the review tour for the Ya paranormal romance, Runes. Woo! We have a review of the book (the first in an upcoming series), a little bit of information about the author (this is by no means her first fictional work!), and a giveaway. Because, you guys rock. ;) As always, feel free to let me know what you think. And if you have any input/ questions for the author reqarding the book, leave em in the comments. I cannot promise she will see them, but it can't hurt, can it? (: <3 Snyder out.

Ednah Walters
Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

EDNAH WALTERS grew up reading Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and dreaming of one day writing her own stories. She is a stay-at-home mother of five humans and two American short-hair cats (one of which has ADHD) and a husband. When she is not writing, she’s at the gym doing Zumba or doing things with her family, reading, traveling or online chatting with fans.

Ednah is the author of The Guardian Legacy series, a YA fantasy series about children of the fallen angels, who fight demons and protect mankind. AWAKENED, the prequel was released by Pill Hill Press in September 2010 with rave reviews. BETRAYED, book one in the series was released by her new publisher Spencer Hill Press in June 2012 and HUNTED, the third installment, will be released April 2013. She’s working on the next book in the series, FORGOTTEN.

Ednah also writes New Adult paranormal romance. RUNES is the first book in her new series. She is presently working on book 2, IMMORTALS.

Under the pseudonym E. B. Walters, Ednah writes contemporary romance. SLOW BURN, the first contemporary romance with suspense, was released in April 2011. It is the first book in the Fitzgerald family series. Since then she has published four more books in this series. She's presently working on book six. You can visit her online at or

I loved the whole mythological aspect involving the "runes" and thought the paranormal, or "magical", aspect was brilliance. I loved the glowing, the healing, the general magical awesomeness. And the "Mists". But in order to get to that, you have to first get past The main character, Raine, and her wishy- washy feelings. But I went into the book knowing there would be multiple interests, so I cannot complain too heartily. (:

I always have to talk about the villians. The villian(s) in this book meant some business. I mean, meow, don't care who is in your way as long as you get what you want. Loved it.

Cora was hilarious and I loved how she is a caring supporting character, but has her own vibrant personalty that endears her to you. She was a hoot, and so naughty, always winking and making saucy comments. haha. She might be my favorite character.

I loved how Raine is a reader, a nerd, and co- captain of the swim team. She is a really cute character and I totally love that she hates dresses, because that is so me.

Eirik was a gem. I mean, he is sweet and funny, with his own mysterious family and a passion for photography and for Raine<3 . A Very endearing character.

Toran was mysterious and almost never had his shirt on. [much to the dismay and delight of Raine.... and the delight of me..] ;) But he had a nice snarky- albiet somewhat arrogant- personality. And he has the most gorgeous blue eyes. hehe. Yes, please. A Very lust-worthy character.

The book was excellently descriptive, both with the characters and the world-building. The ending, tore.. me.... up. But it was engaging all the way through and I am looking forward to Immortals. (: Because, seriously... I mean.. come on... immortals? hehe.

  1. Great review Ryan this sounds like a really fun book! I always love side characters like Cora who really put extra energy into the whole thing!

    1. I know, right? Some books just would not be the same without some supporting characters. (:

  2. Happy you enjoyed Runes, and don't blame me for the ending. I'm just the poor helpless writer. Blame the Norns. They are the ones messing with people's memories.

WE CRAVE INTERACTION. Well, that sounded ;) Leave a comment, crack a joke, ask a question, or just share something fun. Don't matter to us... as long as there is no SPAM or HATE. ): Unless it's the food- spam. We love that....
