Losing Track by Trisha Wolfe Book Blitz + Giveaway

Losing Track (Living Heartwood #2)
Release Date: 10/15/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Sometimes you have to lose your way before finding the right track.

The roar of a bike engine. The vibration between her thighs. The feel of cool darkness kissing her skin as she coasts along twisty back roads at night—Melody Lachlan lives for these things. Ever since Mel and her best friend Darla escaped their small, backwoods town, they’ve traveled the countryside in search of fast rides, tatted bikers, and good times.

A self-proclaimed poet and lover of all things free, Mel views her life as one long bike ride—with pit stops along the way to numb the pain. But she never saw herself as a junkie. Party as hard as you ride. That’s her motto…until a tragic night steals her soul. Then she’s forced to delve below the surface, to where her demons rage.

When she meets recovered drug addict Boone Randall, she’s more likely to deck him than kiss his dimple-adorable face. She doesn’t want his help; doesn’t want to own up to her part in that night. She just wants to do her time and keep her promise to her friend. Yet Boone challenges Mel, and soon she doesn’t mind sharing the road. Only when Boone’s own secret demons threaten their newfound, fragile security, Mel’s course becomes rocky, and she must decide if letting her well-worn track marks fade is worth finding a new path.

Told from Dual point of view from Melody and Boone, this is a New Adult Contemporary Romance intended for readers seventeen years of age and older.

Excerpt 2: Boone

She sniffs hard and clears her voice. But doesn’t say anything.
            I do. “What’s wrong?”
There. Two simple words. Could be any two people meeting in a hallway, asking the same thing, and it’d mean absolutely nothing. But for us, those words break through every barrier we’ve assembled.
Her choice: answer something noncommittal, like “nothing,” and give me the brush off. Securing our casual friendship remains the same. Or, answer honestly…changing everything.
I’m not sure which I’m rooting for. Just as I wasn’t sure yesterday if I wanted her to accept my rejection—or push past all my barriers and tell me to fuck off, she was taking control. I lied when I told myself I was relieved; I wanted this girl to scare the shit out of me, to make me react.
Her throaty voice cuts through the suffocating fear creeping over me. “I got a letter. From a friend. He’s just been released from jail.”
I notice the folded paper in her hand. Her fingertips pinching the paper, holding it away from herself. “That’s good news.” It’s not a statement; it’s a question.
            She nods. “Yeah.”
            Silence thickens between us.
“Walk?” I offer, hoping I can get her out of whatever funk this friend has caused.
Nodding again, she picks herself off the floor and folds the letter to make it smaller. She stuffs it into the back pocket of her jean skirt before saying, “So how did you fair with the blue balls yesterday? You seem to be walking all right.”
A chuckle slips out. I know she’s avoiding. Doesn’t want to talk about the letter or her friend, so I can roll with her punches. “Worst case I ever had.” And that’s no lie. I thought long and hard about jerking my dick to kingdom come, but I settled for blue balls. An extra little dose of punishment for almost fucking up.
“And that’s the best compliment I’ve ever had. Thanks, Boone.” She nudges me with her shoulder as I shake my head.
As soon as we step outside, I drop my shades over my eyes and instantly regret my idea. For the seconds I was entranced with Mel’s pain, with her, I forgot about the sky-high heat index. “Shit. If there was ever a month to get the fuck out of Florida,” I say.
“No shit,” she agrees. Turning to face me, she adds, “You do have a bike. Well, sort of. Not sure I classify your Bonnie bobber as one, really…” she trails off, and I let the slight against my bike slide. I figured her for an all American girl. “But we could Bonnie and Clyde our way to Sturgis. Pun totally intended.” She winks. “There’s always, like, a crazy aftermath of drag races and parties following the rally.”
I want to think she’s joking. But I have a sure feeling in the pit of my stomach that if I offered her to leave right now, she’d hop on the back of my bike. No questions. And suddenly, there’s a sickness gripping my gut to match that feeling—I want that.
At some point, whether it was the moment she touched me, the heated look in her eyes, or the second I saw the hopelessness forming around her in the hall…a line was crossed. There’s no walking away now.
            This girl will break me.
And I’ll beg her to do it.
We reach the benches near the basketball court and she slides onto the top seatback. I lick my lips, thankful for my shades as my gaze travels up her creamy legs to her thighs. I imagine running my hand up that same course. Under her skirt…
Fucking hell. At some point, I’m going to have to wear my dick out. I should beat the hell out of it each time before I see her. I’m like a horny teen getting a taste of porn for the first time. It’s embarrassing.
I’ve gone almost a year with no real temptations. Where the hell did this girl come from? She blindsided me.

 My Review

Sir Renaud de Pierrepont, AKA the Red Wolf is no stranger to battles but his hardest battle has yet to be won.

Lady Serena will not stand by and let a Norman rule over her lands. She dyes her hair and pretends to be a servant. But what if the only person she is lying to is herself?

The Red wolf meets his match in the Lady Serena and one or both of them will surrender.

Serena’s life has been turned upside down. Her father was killed in the battle of Hastings and her brother is in Scotland. Then she gets word that she is to marry a Norman and not just any Norman, but the Red Wolf. I think any lady would have done the same thing she did, flee. I glad she gets caught. *gasp* I know, but Ren and his knights aren’t all that bad. :D They live by a code and Ren expects all of them to follow. Of course there has to be a bad seed in the bunch and that had you guessing throughout the book. When is he going to show up, is someone going to die? I’m pretty sure I don’t have any nails left. Lol

Although most of the book rings true, it is not entirely true. The author explains all that in the back of the book which I thought was pretty neat. I’m not a real history buff, but I like my historical romances and I particularly like when two opposing side come together. Nothing makes me smile more than the surrender of two hearts. :D I thank the author for this wonderful story. I want to have it on my shelf. I can see myself reading this again and I recommend it to all my followers. You will not be disappointed.

Overall: The Wolf has claimed my heart and I’m sure he will claim yours as well. Battles of many kinds are in this book as well as romance and hard decisions. The Red Wolf’s Prize is a prize indeed. It has everything you could want in a book. : D

Serena: I always admire a strong and willful lead. Serena cares about her people and she does what she thinks is best for them. She is has a killer aim with a bow and she has a beautiful singing voice. Its no wonder all the men love her.

Red Wolf/Ren: He is loyal to William and intends to claim his prize, which is Serena. He is a fair man and has a bit of a soft side. He is all male, but when he is around Serena he can’t control himself. Has the mighty wolf been tamed? You’ll have to read to find out.

There are other memorable characters but it would take forever to describe all of them. So, I’m going to do a shout out. Sir Geoffroi, Cassie, Rhodri, Maugris, and Sir Maurin, you guys are awesome!

“Mortal Enchantment spins a unique twist on elemental mythology. This series is not to be missed.”
Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author

In Kalin Matthew's world, elementals control the forces of nature. They are divided into four courts: air, woodland, fire, and water. At sixteen she will leave the life she's built with her mortal mother. Kalin will move to Avalon to rule with her father—the elemental king of the air court. Along the way, she's attacked by a fire court assassin and saved by Rowan, a swoon-worthy elemental with a questionable past.

Worst of all, she learns her father is missing.

To rescue him, Kalin will have to work with a judgmental council and a system of courts too busy accusing each other of deceit to actually be able to help her. But, they aren’t her biggest challenge. With the Midwinter’s Ball only five days away, Kalin must take over her father’s duties, which includes shifting control of the elements—power Kalin has yet to realize.

As Rowan attempts to train her, a war looms between the four courts. If Kalin fails, her father will die and the courts will fall, but the betrayal she’s about to uncover may cost her even more...

My Review

Kalin has just turned 16 and that means she is going to Avalon to be with her father. She has lived in the mortal world her entire life and doesn’t know what to expect, but before she gets there, trouble ensues. She gets attacked in the woods and a sexy stranger comes to her rescue. The hard part is going to trust him and his motives. To make matters worse, when she arrives in Avalon, her father is missing. Now she must work with a council, that may or may not have a traitor and learn how to use her powers in a about 5 days. Sounds simple right, not. Kalin must believe in herself before she can do anything.

Who do you trust when everyone you’ve met has not given you a reason to trust them? Kalin needs to find the traitors fast because her father might not have much time left.

Mortal Enchantment starts out where The Shadow Prince ended, if you’ve read the prequel that is. You know a book is going to be good when it starts off with a fight scene. It’s too bad Kalin doesn’t know how to use her powers, yet. It was fun knowing things about Rowan that Kalin didn’t know. I felt like I was keeping secrets from her. Lol I wanted to raise my hand and say pick me pick me, I know the answer.

We get a glimpse of some of the elementals powers. I’d like to get to know more about the water and woodland creatures though. I’m very satisfied with what I do know. :D I always enjoy a book that has elementals, they just rock my socks. Kalin was strong during this whole process and I was impressed. I would have puked everywhere. Another thing this book had was mystery. Who took the king and why? Oh did I mention romance. Ok maybe not a lot of romance but there are a lot of swoon worthy moments. I also always impressed when a author can make the secondary characters just as important as the main ones. Ariel played a big role in thus book and she was a darling that has a kick-butt side. Avalon sounded beautiful and I want to visit. I felt like I was there when she first arrived.

Overall: This was a kink-butt elemental book and I’m dying to get my hands on the next one.

Kalin: She is the Halfling daughter of the Air court King. Although she didn’t have any powers in the beginning of the book, her powers slowly manifest during the book. I’m glad she didn’t just know how to use her power. No one can just get power and be like wham bam thank you ma’am. She also had a kind heart and she is very strong. When could have crumbled, but she stood tall and did what was needed to be done. Kalin is going to be a force to be reckoned with and I pity the fool that crosses her.

Rowan: Prince of the fire court. He is tall, dark, and handsome. Oh and not to mention that sexy eyebrow piercing. He is one tough son of a gun. How he manages to move on from what happened in The Shadow Prince is beyond me. That was devastating and I cried. He is powerful as heck and he is awesome with a sword. He doesn’t like to answer questions and doesn’t like to get close to anyone. When he does let his guard down you better get a napkin because you are going to drool. He is the whole package ladies…..so back off he is mine :D

Ariel: Kalins best friend in the book. I don’t want to say she is a servant….so lets just say she is helping Kalin out with the entire princess stuff. I can tell she was a little feisty from the beginning and I was right. She is one chick you do not want to mess with. Do mot let her cuteness fools you, she has a sword and she knows how to use it.

THE SHADOW PRINCE (Mortal Enchantment #0.5)

"Filled with betrayal and intrigue, THE SHADOW PRINCE is a dark and twisty novella from an exciting new author!"
Katee Robert, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

Sixteen-year-old Rowan has spent most of his life living among the mortals—learning to control the element of fire, impatiently awaiting the day his vengeful mother, Queen Prisma, will abdicate her throne. When he finally returns to Avalon for his coronation, his mother insists he must first prove his loyalty to the court by completing a secret mission:

Kill Kalin, the half-human, half-elemental daughter of the air court king.

Willing to do anything to remove his mother from power, he agrees to sacrifice the halfling. He returns to the mortal world with his best friend, Marcus, determined to kill the princess. But as he devises a plan, he starts to question whether or not he's capable of completing such a heinous task. And what price he will pay if he refuses?

My Review

Rowan is the price on the fire and wants nothing more than to become the king and free his people. His mother will let him lead….on one condition; he has to kill the air king’s half elemental daughter.

What will he choose: Save his people or save Kalin hoping she can save them all?

Rowan is only 16 and his mother expects him the create treason. What kind of mother does that, the crazy kind that’s who? His mother is an awful lady and someone needs to deal with her.  He also has twin step siblings and they are just like his mother. Ok, not really, but they are in the makings of becoming evil. Lol

To be a novella this was a very entertaining read. I usually don’t like the short stories, but this one was jam packed with useful info along with a lot of action. It wasn’t a waste of time. I recommend you read this before you read Mortal Enchantment. Things will make more sense if you do.

Marcus: He is a Gabriel Hound. His father is a hound and his mother was a human, so that makes him a Halfling. He also happens to be Rowans best friend. Oh, and Rowan’s mother can control him, not just him but all hounds. Talk about scary and having no control over your actions. He seems like a sweet guy that just wants to be free and be with the girl he loves.
