Annie hates running. No matter how far she jogs, she can’t escape the guilt that if she hadn’t broken up with Kyle, he might still be alive. So to honor his memory, she starts preparing for the marathon he intended to race.

But the training is even more grueling than Annie could have imagined. Despite her coaching, she’s at war with her body, her mind—and her heart. With every mile that athletic Jeremiah cheers her on, she grows more conflicted. She wants to run into his arms…and sprint in the opposite direction. For Annie, opening up to love again may be even more of a challenge than crossing the finish line.

“Breathe, Annie, Breathe is an emotional, heartfelt, and beautiful story about finding yourself after loss and learning to love. It gave me so many feels. Her best book yet.” — Jennifer Armentrout, New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You.

Miranda Kenneally

Growing up in Tennessee, Miranda Kenneally dreamed of becoming an Atlanta Brave, a country singer (cliché!), or a UN interpreter. Instead she writes, and works for the State Department in Washington, D.C., where George W. Bush once used her shoulder as an armrest. Miranda loves Twitter, Star Trek and her husband.

Review

Breathe, Annie, Breathe was so cute! I loved Annie and her quest to honor Kyle’s memory. It was really inspiring following her six month journey from someone who couldn’t pass a high school fitness test to someone with the ambition and stamina to run an entire marathon. I loved the focus on her improvement AND the struggles. Long distance runners deal with some strange problems that I never would have even thought they would encounter.

I actually fell in love with Kyle through the flashbacks. I know- I’m sick. I love Annie and Kyle’s love story. I actually liked it better than the Jeremy story. I don’t know what is wrong with me. I knew going in that the guy was dead, but I still had to fall for him. I still like Jeremy- he was so cute. >o<

Jeremy (who is Matt’s brother, from Things I Can’t Forget) was a sweet character dealing with some problems of his own. I really love how he supported Annie, even though he knew the reason she was running the marathon. His interactions with his family are precious and his overbearing cockiness with sports is a bit endearing.

While I simply adore the main girl characters and the stories, I always feel like a little tiny something is missing from the stories with the males. I guess I always just struggle a bit since I love delving into their heads as well. (: Anyways, loved the story. I really loved the idea behind the book- It gives me the warm fuzzies.

I also really loved that the story took place over six months- I sometimes struggle when romances progress too fast. Oh, and the little notes along the training schedule were really cute and helped me pace the events of the book- a nice addition.

I would recommend this book to someone looking for a light quick read- these books have a sort of softer quality to the problems and solutions, so if you crave angst in your stories, you may need something a little heavier. It is a very cute book and an excellent addition to the Hundred Oaks series. <3
